Starting Out, 1963–1966

My father gave me a Petri camera after returning from a year tour of duty in Korea. One of the first experiences as a young kid was taking a couple of old floor rugs outside in the middle of winter to lay on the snow and photograph nature. I will never forget the time I stayed in a cabin while visiting in Vermont and waking to a morning snowfall of ‘sugar snow.’ I had heard of it prior yet never expected it to be so pretty. The short collection of images are first illustrated which the classic image of the young lad carrying bucket of maple syrup in Vermont. Then the frozen ice crystals on wood siding is presenting in the 1963-66 series.
